Panama 507 researches and discusses the issues that affect Panamanians in the United States, then brings community priorities to the public officials, agencies and institutions positioned to respond. We engage at the city, state and federal levels while maintaining a nonpartisan focus on policy and community outcomes.
Our 2026–2027 priorities include community development, small business initiatives, social services, cultural engagement, education, workforce development and civic participation. The organization may address additional issues as community needs and public policy developments change.
Strong communities require access to safe neighborhoods, reliable services, quality public spaces and institutions that understand the people they serve. Panama 507 works to ensure that the needs and perspectives of Panamanians are included in discussions about neighborhood investment and community development.
We support collaboration among residents, community organizations, nonprofits, businesses and government. This work may include convening discussions, identifying gaps in services, supporting place-based initiatives and presenting community priorities to decision-makers.
Panama 507 provides research, analysis and commentary on public policy issues that affect Panamanians. We use that work to inform decision-makers and help community members understand how proposed laws, government programs and public decisions may affect them.
Our advocacy can include meetings with public officials, policy briefings, public statements, testimony, impact statements and participation in civic or legislative conferences. At the federal level, the organization seeks constructive engagement with institutions including the Congressional Hispanic Caucus and the Congressional Black Caucus.
Through the Friends of Panama initiative, Panama 507 also aims to serve as a U.S.-based advocacy partner, advance relevant city and state priorities, address migration and diaspora issues, and strengthen communication between Panama, the diaspora and U.S. policymakers.
Panamanian entrepreneurs, workers and young people should have clear pathways to build skills, grow businesses and participate in the economy. Panama 507 supports small business initiatives, workforce development and partnerships that can connect community members with useful information and opportunity.
Our economic agenda includes attention to business resources, access to contracting and capital, professional networks, education and career development. We also consider how community initiatives can support local commerce and create greater visibility for Panamanian-owned businesses.
Culture connects Panamanians across neighborhoods, generations and national borders. Panama 507 supports programs that recognize Panamanian history, traditions and contributions while creating opportunities for people to build relationships through shared experience.
Cultural engagement can include community events, educational programs, public celebrations and exchanges that connect people in the United States with Panama. Programs such as Etnia Negra Panameña activities and other community gatherings can help increase understanding and strengthen Panamanian identity within the diaspora.
Civic engagement gives community members a stronger voice in the decisions that affect them. Panama 507 encourages Panamanians and friends of Panama to learn about public issues, attend community and government meetings, communicate with public officials and contribute to policy discussions.
We also support education and workforce development as part of civic participation. When people have better access to information, public institutions and professional opportunity, they can take a more active role in their communities.
